Warm and Compassionate Psychotherapy in Toronto

Get to Know Ellen

We’re all on a path in life. The path that brought me to where I am today involved many twists and turns. I started out in medical school, determined to heal people after losing my mother to cancer. I loved connecting with patients and their families but didn’t feel like the medical profession was the right fit for me. Determined to find my place, I transitioned into health policy and law. I was a passionate advocate as a lawyer, but I longed to help people to heal their pain. After having my second child, I decided to become a therapist because I knew deep inside that it was what I was meant to do – and I was right.

Becoming a therapist felt like coming home.

I obtained my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree and received specialized training in trauma therapy, and I fell in love with helping people who are ready to make changes in their life.

I think my winding journey makes me a better therapist because I bring aspects of all my experiences to my work. My understanding of the body helps to orient my appreciation of the mind-body connection that is essential to holistic psychotherapeutic care. I also bring strong analytical and advocacy skills to my practice, while remaining anchored in warmth, sincerity, and compassion.

Like you, every step of my life’s path has led me to the present moment. I’ve been there, I’ve walked my own painful journey and experienced the transformative power of true healing. I would be honoured to walk with you on your path.
